Fontainebleau, 16 December 2004
Dear all,
Time for the final update from Fontainebleau.
Just got back from our graduation trip to Egypt. One day in Cairo. visiting the pyramids and 3 days in Sharm El Sheik, snorkling and partying.
This afternoon we have our gradution ceremony and tomorrow I drive back to Copenhagen after an incredible year here in the forrests of Fontainebleau. So many courses, so many parties, so many wonderful and interesting people from all over the world. The most exiting year in my life so far.
On the one hand it will be sad to say goodbye to all these great people. Most of them I will probably never see again. On the other hand, I’m also very exited to go back to Copenhagen and start working and get out in the real world. I would not have been able to do another year of this.
One thing I have learned to treasure over the course of this year, are my strong roots back home. Most of the people down here have a very international background, having studied and worked in many countries, often with double nationalities, as this internal profile is one of the key things INSEAD is looking for. Many of them now feel somewhat rootless. And when you talk closely with them, many of them say that they really miss the feeling at home somewhere and that it is something which really bothers them. This is probably something, that most of you take for given, but still worth to keep in mind and enjoy.
I am even more exited to go back, as two weeks ago I managed to get the job I really wanted, working with corporate strategy and business development for TDC, the Danish incumbent telecommunications operator. I knew I had a good chance to get the job after having spoken to them over the summer. However, my concern was whether the right position would open up for January. Last month it did. So I have been extremely lucky. I have also been extremely lucky, finding a place to live, as Louise Houlberg, with whom I have been sharing an appartment with for a number of years, is off to London for a year, allowing me to sublet it next year. My new adress will therefore be
Jonas Holm
Brammingegade 5 2tv
2100 København Ø.
Until then I can be reached at my parents place on: +45 39620531
I wish you all a merry Christmas and a very happy new year. I really look forward to seeing you much more often in 2005. For those of you not in Copenhagen, I hope you make it there sometime soon. You are always welcome to stay at my place.
Jonas
